VeggiePets.com only sells cat litters made from natural renewables that do not harm the environment or the cats that use them. We do not sell Sodium Bentonite clay 'clumping' litters as we believe they are potentially harmful to cats. Sodium Bentonite expands massively (up to 15 times its original volume) on contact with water and then hardens. It cannot be flushed as it can block plumbing and does not bio-degrade. The dust from these litters can be inhaled or ingested when cats lick their paws and fur with obvious health risks. Silicon particles found in these clay litters are a known human carcinogen and aside from health concerns, clay cat litters contribute to useless landfill waste.
