VegeKIT is a powdered supplement for use in home made cat foods that has been in use since 1986. It provides essential nutiritients for healthy Vegan cats, tailored to the higher nutritional requirements of kittens and lactating cats. Amino Acids
Cats need dietary taurine, but significant quantities naturally occur only in animal tissues. A shortage causes blindness and heart disease. Vitamins
Most mammals biosynthesize Vitamin A from the yellow pigment (carotene) found in vegetables. Cats lack this ability, making a dietary source of this vitamin, found naturally only in animal tissues, essential. Vitamin D is another essential vitamin, found naturally only in animal tissues as D3. Fatty Acids
The essential fatty acid Arachidonate is rare in non-animal sources. Cats require it for numerous vital metabolic processes including reproduction. Vegecat products contain the rare nutrients mentioned above derived from non-animal sources, such as D2 from yeast. Its use is very similar to VegeCat, but contains higher amounts of certain vitamins and minerals for growth. Kittens (up to about 12 months old), queens, and lactating cats need Vegekit™. VegeKIT is simply added to food to ensure cat has all essential nutrients. The enclosed (vegan) recipies, used with Vegecat, meet nutritional levels established by the Association of American Feed Control Official's (AAFCO) Cat Food Nutrient Profile for feline growth, gestation and lactation as well as adult maintenance. Another ingredient that can be useful in making food at home is VegeYeast, with a strong flavour and aroma, rich in B vitamins. It is 100 times more acidic than other yeasts and 35% lower in magnesium.

How long does it last ?
A 210 g tub should last a 2.3kg kitten around 6 weeks.
A 1.8kg kitten would need just one teaspoon (5ml) of VegeKIT added to its diet daily. |
